Most states experience four very distinct seasons, which means four glorious seasons of weddings. Some of you may even have a favorite season, whether it is the cool colors and layers of the winter season or the breezy and bright colors of the spring. Let’s go over some seasonal trends for invitations and décor for each of these seasons.
Different elements of spring work wonderfully and playfully with invitations and other paper crafts. Floral wreaths, and an al carte look with coordinating rsvp and black striped envelope liners is just one example. Also, try some blush pink or mint green coordinated with a touch gold tones. Metallic like gold are incredibly versatile and can go with almost any theme for a touch of elegance. Gold can also brighten up any invitation, reception decor or ceremony – indoor or outdoor.
Fresh flowers are always a springtime tradition. With the coming of the sun, most guests expect to see a lot of floral in springtime weddings. You don’t always have to comply in a traditional way though. Freshly- picked arrangements of any and every flower in season – mix and match floral – is the biggest trend so far.
Early summer florals tend to carry over from spring. Late summer usually lends itself to sunflowers. Do you have a sunflower theme for your wedding? We have gone in search of the perfect inspiration for you so you don't have to. Visit VG Invites on Pinterest and check out our "Sunflower Weddings" board.
In addition to those bright yellows, shades of blue have been working their way into summer trends as of late. Various shades of blue have been seen paired with blush pinks and corals for a splash of cool in otherwise overwhelmingly warm tones. Other surprising color trends include shades of purple and gray.
Of course, gray has been seeping into home décor trends all throughout the past year. This cool and fairly neutral color is a great way to enhance any background without whitewashing the décor in your reception.
Other trends include wine smoothies to help keep the heat at bay, natural centerpieces (including citrus scents), and summertime fruit selections for wedding cakes. Yep! Key lime, lemon, and vanilla orange buttercream were making waves in the summer wedding season.
Big bold sunflowers spill over into the fall. The lively yellow of the sunflowers can really brighten up an otherwise neutral color palate – which have been the norm in past fall trends. But also the rustic look like this photo elopement reception invitation brings personality to the smallest details of your wedding.
Normally fall can be a mix of subtle hues like shades of darker orange, browns, with splashes of yellow. However, dusty pastels and moodier jewel tones (like maroons, forest greens, and topaz) have been flooding the fall wedding palates. See what fall wedding dreams are made of. As far as food goes, the big fall trend has been a mix of creative drink and food stations where guests can create and choose their poison of choice. Coffee stands, taco bars, popcorn stations, and even sauce stations have been trending. This is a great way to really make an impact with your guests. Give them a fun and unique experience by letting them choose their favorites – with the help of a few experts (like baristas and catering services).
Another trend that has been making the rounds is the “his and her drink specials”. Both the bride and groom each pick out their favorite drink and offer both of those at the bar. VG Invites offers a few unique and elegant recipe cards and wedding reception signs for drink specials on her Etsy page www.vginvites.etsy.com and search wedding reception signs or recipe cards.
Birch tree and pine tree invites are great for any winter weddings. These invitations bring in cool blues, grays, and greens. Pine trees are a nice choice for winter wedding themes in 2016. A little woodsy flair can complement almost any wintery wedding premise. Are you planning a winter wedding? You will love all of the inspiration that VG Invites has found for you. Metallic color palettes like elegant golds and cool silvers are also trending this winter. Many of VG Invites wedding invitations look amazing on a shimmery pearl essence stock, giving them that metallic flare. In addition to that, interesting and creative lighting always trends in the cooler (and darker) winter months. Rope lights, candelabras, and pendant lights are especially big this year.
If you’re looking toward other types of décor, why not try non-floral centerpieces like bare limbs draped with white lights, succulents, sprigs of lavender, and decorative leaves and pedals. Floating candles in water centerpieces bring together some of the most modern and unique trends this year.
